Traditional Clay Pot (South Africa)

Traditional Sotho pot from South Africa. The pot is made of earthenware and hand-painted with geometric patterns in red, white, blue, and brown. Traditionally, these pots are used for storing beer or cooking food, but out of context they can bruggetje up any room thanks to their decorational value.The burn mark is not a defect, but a direct result of the traditional cooking method over a wood fire and the nature of the material.
